Janvi's Pov

After the long flight I am here on the ground on my feet finally. The air here feels so different. It feels strange to be here after 6 years. 6 years ago I moved to New York. 6 years ago everything changed I was so broken back then but look at me now, all changed. Everything changed that night everything. This country has given me so many emotions making me vulnerable again but I masked up my emotions something I have learned in these past years.

I am waiting for Kartik since 15 minutes but this guy is as always late. It was Kartik's plan to give Mahi a surprise. I called him to ask where is he when he ordered me to turn around. I looked back only to get engulfed in a tight hug.

"I missed you so much Chiku".

Yes he calls me Chiku because back then I had chubby cheeks which resembled a Chiku according to him.

I pouted and said "I am not chubby now, okay ?" He chuckled and handed me my favourite  flowers.

"You still remember that lilies are my favourite flowers."

He nodded and signalled me to sit in his car. The driver kept my luggage in the car and we moved towards our destination. Catching up on the 4 years we missed. Yeah we chatted on text but meeting someone in real life and chatting about life is something different. I am so excited to see Mahi's reaction. In an hour we reached to our destination.

In Kamal Nivas Villa

I entered the 'Kamal Nivas' villa. The name of this villa was kept on the name of Mahi's grandfather who just passed away a month ago before the villa was built. We besties have spent a good amount of time here. As soon as I entered I saw dadima (Mahi's grandmother) sitting there waiting for me. I went to take blessings from her and sat beside her.

"Aakhir nikal hi diya na ye goro ne tujhe vaha se." She said and I heard Mahi's dad and mom entering the room while chuckling to the comment passed by her.

(After all, these white people threw you out from there.)

"Mai aapke liye cheesecake leke aayi thi dadima par ab rehne do mai jaari hu vapas." I fake sighed.

(I brought you cheesecake grandmother but let it be I am going back.)

I heard aunty saying "Oh hello you are not going anywhere." She fake glared at me and I smiled at her.

I went to take their blessings and hugged them.

"Okay boss." I said and saluted her.

Everyone started laughing at my cute antics when we heard the clicking of the heels.

"What are you doing here ?" Mahi screamed and ran towards me to hug me.

Her choking me but she cared less.

"Mahi leave me I can't breathe." I said and she got back.

"You didn't told me that you were coming back."

"It was a surprise for you idiot." I said.

She made an O face understanding the situation.

Mahi's mom asked me to get changed as they would be here in half an hour. Me and Mahi walked towards her room. Not walking but me running and her chasing me as I was teasing her. We went to the room and fell on the bed. When she suddenly said.

"Yaar kya jaldi bade hogaye na hum." I nodded looking at her and smiled.

(Man, we grew up so quickly.)

After few minutes I got up and went to take a much needed shower. I took the shower in ten minutes and came back inside the room. Only to find the room empty. I found my suitcase kept beside the table. I picked it up and removed a white traditional jumpsuit set from the bag.

I wore the traditional jumpsuit and the matching jacket on it and tied my hairs in a middle partition loose low bun I removed some strands of hair which fell on my cheeks. I put a pink lipstick on my lips and used some blush on my cheeks. I put on eyeliner, kohl, mascara and put a diamond bindi.

I wore an oxidised neck piece with a matching oxidised big ring. I didn't wore many rings as I already had two one which my parents gifted me on the right hand's middle finger and one which I bought by my own money on the left hand's ring finger. The oxidised neck piece completely hid the chain which held so much pain behind it. The chain was silver in colour with a diamond studded star with an evil eye between it which was a gift from someone special back then. The chain also included a diamond safety pin which was a promise to myself that I won't do the same mistake again.

There was a soft knock on the door so I went to the door wearing my small studs in my ears. I opened the door and found Mahi smiling at me. I wore my transparent heels and saw her settling on the bed.

"You are not going to the meeting boss lady." She taunted me.

I just rolled my eyes at her comment and suddenly she clicked my picture before I could question her there was a notification on my phone. I saw it was hers on our group chat.

It said "Girls she is already here. Where are you guys?"

I was going to question her about clicking my weird pictures when our conversation got interrupted by Kartik.

"Mahi Di, Chiku they have arrived."
